A Life Made Easy?

What exactly is the future of the "Internet of Things"?

Could we be moving towards a completely organized, centralized, and automated home life where we are no longer slaves to our homes but the masters? Will robotics and artificial intelligence take-over everything from cooking and cleaning, to organizing our calenders and scheduling our day to day lives.

Will our health be monitored 24/7 from the moment we get up to the moment we go to sleep and in between.

I think so, and I personally am looking forward to the day where we are no longer tasked with designing the perfect routine and managing our daily lives, but can source it out to something much more dedicated to the task.

An automaton who neither sleeps nor makes a mistake in caring for us, making sure we eat enough and correctly, that our lives are organized and laundry cleaned and folded, because that means we as humans have far less to worry about and far more free time.

The only question remains is what will people do with this newly acquired free time?

Considering also that if this is in our future, we are also very likely to have far shorter work weeks.

I certainly hope with personal AI to assist us we will spend this time wisely, perhaps learning new skills, enjoying more time with family and friends, and contributing more to humanity.

Could this be you?

What do you think, beautiful?

Do you think this picture could be yours, or someone elses.

Of course not, at least for now.

I am beginning a blog to start writing about things I find interesting that are on the briNGk of reality and possibility. That push boundaries and bring science fiction to the present. This picture hints at one of them, and that one is gene therapy.

This technology fascinates me not out of fear, but because of the possibilities it suggests for us all. How great would it be to live in a world without genetic defects, or disease. A world where you can be cured of any disorder mental or physical. That is a world I would like to live in.

But that is not the reason I started with a picture of Angelina Jolie.

While gene therapy offers ways for us to affect all our cells in our bodies at any stage of life to cure ourselves, it also allows us to change who we are fundamentally. That is why I started with this image, because people will use this powerful new technology to push the limits of individuality. To become those they worship and to perfect themselves in their minds eye.

If we are no longer bound by our genetics at birth what will people do. Will they use it to change everything about them. To gve themselves blue eyes, or green eyes? What about white skin, or black skin? How about green skin? Even things as absurd as horns?

This is a technology that is no longer the stuff of science fiction, it is actively being researched and performed in laboratories to cure genetic disorders, and while it may seem far fetched or even impossible that people can change their appearance and mold their physical presence. This is a technology that is on the briNGk of existence, and of changing everything in our world.

So ask yourself this, when gene therapy becomes a reality. Who will you look like?
